The 10 COMMANDMENTS of a Pilot

To some aviation is a religion. Wake up, pack your flight bags, iron your uniform, fly, go on an exciting layover, fly, repeat. Flying also gives you the sense of freedom the moment the wheels lift off the ground. It’s almost like all your worries just disappear, at least temporarily until you get your next flying fix.

Here are the 10 Commandments of being a Pilot that I think will help you whether your are a student pilot or a veteran airline pilot.

THOU SHALL ALWAYS KEEP SAFETY FIRST

THOU SHALL AVIATE, NAVIGATE, AND COMMUNICATE- (In Order)

THOU SHALL BE PROFICIENT IN EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

THOU SHALL MAKE USE OF CREW RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

THOU SHALL FLY WELL RESTED AND LEAVE LIFES WORRIES AT THE GATE

THOU SHALL BE AT OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE APPROACH SPEED

THOU SHALL QUESTION EVERY WEATHER FORECAST FOR ACCURACY

THOU SHALL NOT RELY HEAVILY ON AUTOMATION

THOU SHALL CLARIFY ANY MISUNDERSTOOD ATC CLEARANCE

THOU SHALL HAVE FUN AND KEEP A GOOD ATTITUDE ALONG THE WAY
