This is a quick article and something I had on my mind that I felt needed sharing.
The 18 year old me had only about 75 flying hours at the time and thought I knew everything.
Later my personality evolved 180 degrees around. Now the more hours I have and the more advanced airplanes I fly. The more I feel like a student, constantly in the books and absorbing every new detail like a beginner.
I’ve heard people say you’re the most dangerous as a pilot between 200-800 hours of flying because you take unnecessary risks. I think there’s some truth to that.
After you get over 1000 hours of flying and maybe even survived a few close calls you learn to take it slow and proceed with caution.
Even better if you’ve learned to fly in the harsh Canadian winters. Landing with gusty winds with low visibility on a snowy covered runway.
And kudos to you if you felt the pressure to go flying in questionable conditions but put your foot on the brakes in the interest of safety.
All tools to add to your mental toolbox to make you a better pilot.
Safe flying!
